Courtyard House

A side and rear extension with additional loft conversion of a semi-detached house in Cambridge.
Rather than proposing a conventional cramped double floor extension, our approach was for a generous single floor extension which incorporates natural outdoor spaces.
The pitched roof-scape frames a central courtyard, which bridges the existing with the new and is a modern take on a typical Chinese courtyard house. It also provides privacy between the existing and new, as well as views that can be enjoyed from both sides, which were important to our client's lifestyle.
The project is due on site in 2025.
